Secret crushes, eh? Thousands really, but there were three people that thrilled me to be in their presence-----Jaye Stansbury, Dena Henderson, and Debbie Bushnell. These were three of the nicest people I had ever met. I was fortunate enough to hang out with Jaye and her friends, and spent summers out at Green Acres Swim Club with Dena. I met Debbie in Mrs. Maples' 6th grade class when she moved to Fairborn from Hawaii, and I was gaga over her all through high school. (For show-and-tell she did a hula dance with authentic grass skirt.) One of the highlights for me was when I was in charge of Park Hills first Homecoming in '71----all three were Queen candidates, and all three just happened to call me the night before. I talked to each for about an hour, talking about hopes and dreams and what it would mean to each of them. Let me tell you, I was in heaven. (BTW, Jaye was the first Homecoming Queen.)
It's funny, but I was the Class Clown, never afraid to interupt class with a joke. I was president of the Student Council, wrote for the Paper, played sports, knew most everybody in school. And because of all that, I don't think anyone realized just how shy and scared I was. I wish I had been able to tell those three ladies how much they meant to me.
